My role
I was responsible for the rights management aspect of the platform.
The challenges
Rights ownership, licensing and management in the media industry is a complex topic. We needed to support different types of rights, e.g. commissioned vs acquired programmes. Broadcast and catch up windows differed across programmes. We needed to enforce geographic protections to comply with local commercial agreements and laws.
The solution
A java based platform based on the popular Spring framework.
What did I learn?
The benefit of strong technical leadership, capable of bridging the gap between “the business” and development teams. I was fortunate to sit alongside strong solution architects with a clear vision.
